  • How long will it take?

    This training can be taken in 5- 10 minute lessons with each lesson being a standalone section meaning that, users can pick and choose lessons based on issues they are currently facing.

  • Who is this training for?

    This training is designed for businesses exposed to emerging market assets and portfolios. It helps with investments in any sector with a significant land footprint, such as mining, agriculture, infrastructure and renewable energy.

  • Who designed this training?

    This course was designed by the Social License Platform (SLP) Support team, a team of international experts with over a decade of experience in land based issues, social license risk and tenure risk in emerging markets.

  • What do I need to prepare?

    Almost nothing. The training provides a compact set of lessons providing a variety of insights, guidance and tools as part of the SLP in order to show how achieving best practice can help mitigate risk to your business and save on unnecessary costs and delays.

What is the SLP?

The Social License Platform (SLP) is an online platform run by a team of international experts that exists to enable successful responsible investment and business. The SLP specialises in facilitating the procurement of social and environmental services like community engagement, impact assessment and standards compliance.

Free SLP Pilot until March 2022

The SLP currently operates in sub-Saharan Africa, with partners providing local hubs in Tanzania, Uganda and Ghana. Over 2021 we plan to expand operations to cover all sub-Saharan Africa, followed by a global expansion in 2022. We are also following demand as we expand – if you are based in an area not currently covered by the SLP but would like to use the platform, please contact us to discuss possible solutions.

The purpose of this course is simple: there is a strong business case for responsible practice that is typically underappreciated. Sensible investment in procedures that assess and mitigate social and environmental risks provide good value for money, helping business to run and expand smoothly and efficiently. This course explains how doing the right thing can also be good business.
